For nearly two decades, Wayne G. McDonnell, Jr., M.B.A. has been intimately involved in sports management education, sports media, and coaching. He achieved the rank of Clinical Professor of Sports Management and served as an Academic Chair. McDonnell was a Co-Director, Program Development and Special Initiatives for New York University’s Sports and Society.

A former financial analyst and accountant at Madison Square Garden, McDonnell is a highly sought-after commentator in the media on issues regarding the game of baseball. He has consistently appeared on television programs on the MLB Network; Bloomberg; Business News Network (Canada); ABC; BBC; NBC; FOX; CNN; Al Jazeera America; SportsNet New York and the YES Network. He is a frequent guest on radio programs such as ESPN 99.1 FM’s “Overtime” with Jeff Thurn, “The Hays Advantage,” “Taking Stock with Courtney Donahoe and Pimm Fox” on Bloomberg Radio, KNX 1070 News Radio in Los Angeles, and National Public Radio. McDonnell is regularly quoted in several periodicals such as the Associated Press; The Wall Street Journal; The New York Times; USA Today; New York Daily News; Newsday; and Crain’s New York Business just to name a few.

McDonnell is a Forbes Sports Money contributor with a focus on the business of baseball. He has also written for other baseball-related periodicals such as Maple Street Press’ Yankees Annual 2010, Yankees Yearly 2012, 2013, and Bleacher Report. He was awarded the NYU School of Professional Studies Award for Teaching Excellence in 2011 as well as an Award for Outstanding Service in 2008. McDonnell’s research on the game of baseball has been consistently featured at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture.
