Inspirational Speakers

InCourage participates in many off-site events that include motivational speakers. In fact, we have worked with speakers to keep the proper flow throughout the event. We also have our own speakers to offer that can increase the impact of the message you are conveying to your organization.

Steve Donahue

Steve is a professional speaker, coach, consultant and author. In 1994 he was named a “Consummate Speaker of the Year” sharing the distinction with only 25 others in the world including Margaret Thatcher. Steve has the unique ability to facilitate large groups, keeping them engaged and entertained with his stories, exercises and wisdom gleaned from 14 years of experience as presenter/facilitator.

As a young man Steve crossed the Sahara Desert overland from north to south. This fascinating adventure is the foundation of many of his programs and the subject of his new book; Shifting Sands – A Guidebook for Crossing the Deserts of Change. His book has been released in Spring 2004 by Berrett-Koehler Publishing of San Francisco. InCourage and Steve also created Shifting Sands, a participant based multimedia-learning program that assists people within organizations through transition.

Steve has been featured on the front page of the Financial Post. His work has also been described in the Toronto Star and Ottawa Citizen. He has appeared on CBC’s “The Nature of Things” and CTV’s Canada A.M. Steve is also a certified Six Thinking Hats® facilitator having been personally trained by creativity guru Dr. Edward de Bono.

Some of the groups Steve has addressed or facilitated include: IBM, Royal Bank, Molsons, The Bank of America, The Conference Board (New York), Unilever Best Foods, Pillsbury, AstraZeneca, Merck, and Advance PCS.

Tom Bowes

Tom started his twenty-year corporate career in the high technology industry within corporate Canada. Over this time Tom came to the rising awareness of how organizations, regardless of their size and of their "performance", needed to develop courageous leaders who inspired others and individuals who could work and relate together more effectively. This awareness spawned the idea to start InCourage in early 1997 with the vision of generating the courage in individuals to sustain performance for organizations.

The learning programs developed by InCourage help people stretch their personal comfort zones to: apply one’s natural talents to accomplish what might seem out of reach; to trust each other by collaborating and understanding each other; to make bold decisions when we do not have all the information; and provide meaning to one’s work by staying true to what is important. Tom has also recently initiated the InCourage Leadership Coaching program and works as an executive coach alongside other coaches whose values are consistent with InCourage's.

Tom is currently writing a book on “rational” courage and is speaking to organizations about how to apply our most profound virtue at work.
