InCourage Fall 2008 Newsletter

The air is getting crisp, and the leaves are changing.  Fall has officially arrived. For many, this time of year represents a time to reflect on the current path and a chance to  make adjustments before the year ends.  InCourage is here to help make these adjustments successful.  

It has been an eventful year so far.  Our customers have taken us around the world this summer.  We have also recently expanded our reach into the Western United States with the addition of Theresa Wilkerson in California.  Theresa's  mandate is to engage West coast customers and provide sustainable learning solutions.  Also new this fall is our Bridges program, an effective learning tool for engaging powerful conversations. 

The Slippery Truth

This essay challenges the reader to do the work in finding one's own truth instead of looking to others for it.  We can choose to allow others to speak our truth (which is really theirs) or do the work of discovering our own and then finding the courage to speak it.  It is easier, of course, to let others figure it out for us because by exercising our freedom to live our truth means being responsible for our choices and all the anxiety (and power) that comes from making decisions for ourselves.

Leadership Matters

There are two key components to successfully leading others.  The ability to provide clear direction, with clearly articulated expectations of deliverables and time-frames,  and the ability to engage those same individuals in doing that work.  This is where most leaders need some support, not just those who have technical/professional backgrounds, but in my experience the majority of leaders need to develop their relationship skills.
